Saed News: A senior Israeli intelligence official has claimed in an interview with Al-Monitor that the United States and Israel, in cooperation with Kurdish separatist groups, had prepared a comprehensive plan to overthrow the Iranian government; a plan that, according to him, was halted at the last moment due to opposition from Washington.

Secret U.S.-Israeli Plan for Regime Change in Iran Revealed; Why Was It Halted at the Last Moment?

According to SAEDNEWS, Al-Monitor, citing Israeli sources, reported that the United States and Israel had developed a broad plan to overthrow the Iranian government with the participation of Kurdish separatist groups, and that its operational stages had even been examined. According to these sources, Washington ultimately stopped the operation due to concerns about Iran’s response and the regional consequences. An Israeli official also claimed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan played a role in changing Donald Trump’s position. The report comes despite previous statements by officials in Iraqi Kurdistan rejecting any action against Iran, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had targeted some Kurdish group positions in Erbil at the beginning of the 12-day war. Israeli sources nevertheless stressed that the idea of regime change in Iran remains on their agenda.

Al-Monitor, citing Israeli officials, has revealed what it described as a “comprehensive and detailed” U.S.-Israeli plan to overthrow the Iranian government with the cooperation of Kurdish separatist groups.

One senior Israeli intelligence source, speaking anonymously, told Al-Monitor: “The plan to overthrow the Iranian regime with Kurdish cooperation was comprehensive and detailed. We invested enormous resources and energy into it... The Americans knew it very well because they were fully briefed.”

The official further claimed that the Kurdish separatist groups themselves were “eager to carry out the operation.” He stated that working alongside the Israeli Air Force and U.S. forces was “like a dream come true” for these groups.

However, the Israeli official alleged that “Washington pulled the brakes on the operation at the last moment.”

These claims emerge despite earlier statements from senior Iraqi Kurdish officials denying any efforts directed against Iran. During the early days of the 12-day conflict, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted positions of Iraqi Kurdish groups in Erbil, aiming to prevent any potential actions by those groups.

According to Al-Monitor, concerns over Iran’s potential response and its consequences caused American officials to hesitate about the operation.

The Israeli official also claimed that one of the main opponents of the plan was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, alleging that he “influenced Trump” and contributed to a change in the U.S. president’s position.

The report notes that in recent weeks a particular media narrative has attempted to portray disagreements between American and Israeli officials. It argues that a similar approach appeared before the 12-day war, but was later described as a “deception operation.”

The report further stated that Israel believed its longstanding covert relations with separatist Kurdish communities in Iraq and Iran could play “a decisive role in overthrowing the Iranian regime.”

Another Israeli official interviewed by Al-Monitor reportedly emphasized that efforts to implement a plan for “overthrowing the Iranian government” continue.

Without referring to Iran’s capabilities or domestic support within the country, the official claimed: “This regime change can still happen... It can still be achieved with patience and the right approach.”

He also suggested that a potential agreement between Iran and the United States could hinder the realization of such a plan.
