SAEDNEWS: Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, has formally called on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to intervene regarding the humanitarian impact of the illegal US naval blockade on Iranian ports.
According to Saednews, In a letter addressed to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, Bahreini warned that the ongoing unilateral blockade represents a serious threat to the fundamental rights of the Iranian population. He emphasized that it undermines the country’s right to development and has caused significant disruptions in the supply chains of essential goods, healthcare services, and life-saving medical equipment.
The Iranian envoy called on the High Commissioner to immediately launch an investigation to monitor the humanitarian consequences of the blockade, noting that the situation is particularly endangering food security and the livelihoods of residents in southern Iran.
The letter also described the blockade as part of a broader pattern of what it called blatant and illegal aggression against the Islamic Republic. Tehran maintains that both the United States and Israel bear full responsibility for the humanitarian consequences resulting from these measures.
