SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson says that the US-Israeli attack on Iran cannot be “downplayed,” as it was a “blatant act” of aggression against a sovereign state.

US–Israeli attack on Iran is a blatant act of aggression, not just an ‘unnecessary war,’ says Baqaei

According to Saednews, Esmail Baqaei made these remarks in a post on his X account on Friday, responding to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s description of the conflict with Iran as an “unnecessary war.”

He wrote that the current crisis facing the region and the world can be directly traced to the unlawful and arbitrary withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA in May 2018.

Baqaei added that this imposed war could and should have been avoided.

However, he emphasized that the UN Charter does not recognize any concept of a “necessary war” that would allow states to use force against another sovereign country based on the arbitrary or whimsical decisions of aggressors.

He stated that the American-Israeli attack on Iran cannot be minimized or reinterpreted as merely an “unnecessary war,” calling it a clear and flagrant violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and a blatant act of aggression against a sovereign state.

He further stressed that any country that values the rule of law and the UN Charter must unequivocally condemn this act of aggression and demand accountability.
