SAEDNEWS: Xi Jinping Ignored Many of Donald Trump’s Demands Amid US–China Rivalry and Strategic Partnership with Iran, Analyst Says

China Rejects Donald Trump’s Demands on Iran

According to the political affairs desk of Saed News Agency, Abdulreza Faraji-Rad, a professor of geopolitics, said in an interview with Eghtesad Online that regarding Trump’s visit to China, there is no doubt that the trip is related to war issues. He stated that Trump, aware of Iran’s economic relations with China, traveled to Beijing in an attempt to persuade China to limit its ties with Iran. However, since China is both an economic rival of the United States and a strategic partner of Iran, President Xi Jinping left many of Trump’s demands unanswered.

The international affairs analyst further noted that since the U.S. conflict with Iran has not ended, Trump is resorting to various methods to increase pressure and threats against Iran, and even seeks to be recognized globally as the “winner” of the war in order to relieve internal and external pressures. He added that the United States is approaching congressional elections, and under the current atmosphere shaped by the conflict with Iran, Republicans face a difficult challenge in maintaining their majority in Congress. Therefore, until November 3, 2026, when the vote will be held, Trump will make every effort to justify military action against Iran.

He further added that Iran is currently in an extremely sensitive period. Although “firm resistance” against U.S.-Israeli aggression is considered a major achievement, it cannot guarantee a peaceful future. This means that the governing system must remain prepared for possible military confrontation while also pursuing diplomatic solutions. However, he acknowledged that improving Iran–U.S. relations through dialogue appears difficult, as both Tehran and Washington insist on their principles and neither side is willing to make concessions.

Faraji-Rad also noted that the Iran–U.S.–Israel conflict is not only important for the parties involved but for the entire international system. He explained that if Iran were to close the Strait of Hormuz and the United States were to impose a naval blockade, the global economy and many countries would be significantly affected. However, he expressed little optimism about mediation efforts by countries such as Pakistan and China to bring a final resolution to the conflict.
