SAEDNEWS: According to reports, the shepherd who disclosed the location of a secret Israeli base in Iraq was killed yesterday.
According to Saed News political service american newspaper reported, the State of Israel had established a covert base in the desert regions of Iraq prior to the start of the war with Iran.
The hidden facility reportedly came close to being exposed in early March (late winter 2025). Citing Iraqi sources and reporting by The Wall Street Journal, an Iraqi shepherd noticed unusual nighttime helicopter activity in a remote desert area and informed security authorities. The Iraqi army subsequently dispatched a patrol unit to investigate the site.
Before Iraqi forces could approach the suspected location, Israeli warplanes allegedly struck the patrol, reportedly in an attempt to prevent the base’s exposure. Iraqi officials confirmed that one soldier was killed and two others were injured in the airstrike. Following the incident, the Iraqi military stated that the target had been an “unknown armed group,” though the new report suggests the real objective was to protect the secrecy of the Israeli facility.
At the time, the Iraqi government condemned the strike, which resulted in the death of one Iraqi soldier. However, the Israeli military declined to comment on the report. Iraqi media, citing an official identified as Al-Muhammadawi, also stated that the operation was carried out without coordination or approval.
According to the latest report by Maariv, the shepherd who initially discovered and reported the suspected location of the secret base was killed yesterday.
