SAEDNEWS: Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is reviewing a new proposal from Iran aimed at ending the war. Before boarding the presidential aircraft (Air Force One), he said, “I will update you later,” adding that “they are about to give me the exact text (of the proposal) right now.”
According to the political desk of Saed News, the Associated Press reported:
Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is reviewing a new proposal from Iran aimed at ending the conflict, but at the same time expressed skepticism that it would lead to an agreement.
Speaking before boarding the presidential aircraft (Air Force One), he said, “I’ll let you know later,” adding that “they are about to give me the exact text (of the proposal) right now.”
Shortly after speaking with reporters, Trump wrote about the new proposal on social media, noting: “I cannot imagine that this proposal would be acceptable, as they have not yet paid a sufficiently high price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the past 47 years!”
Two semi-official Iranian news agencies, Tasnim and Fars—reported to be close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—stated that Iran has sent a 14-point proposal via Pakistan in response to a 9-point proposal from the United States. Iranian state media have not yet published any reports on this new proposal. Pakistan has previously hosted negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Trump rejected Iran’s previous proposal earlier this week; however, talks have continued, and a three-week ceasefire appears to remain in place. The U.S. president has also put forward a new plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas trade typically passes.
