SAEDNEWS: CNN: Trump Outlines Position on Iran After Receiving New War-End Proposal in Classified Security Meeting
According to the political service of the Saed News Agency, Shafaqna, citing Al Jazeera, reported that another source has also confirmed it is “unlikely that Trump will accept Iran’s proposal.” According to this source, U.S. officials believe that reopening the Strait of Hormuz without resolving uranium enrichment issues could deprive Washington of a key leverage tool in negotiations.
On the other hand, Reuters, citing a U.S. official, reported that President Donald Trump is dissatisfied with the proposal presented by Iran because it does not address Iran’s nuclear program. The official noted that Trump had previously reviewed the proposal with his senior national security advisers.
CNN, citing informed sources, reported that intensive diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States are continuing behind the scenes. Meanwhile, The New York Times claimed that Iran’s new proposal aims to generate financial benefits from the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, potentially through transit fees or services provided to oil tankers.
According to CNN sources, ongoing discussions are focused on reaching a phased agreement, with the first stage of any potential deal centered on a return to the pre-conflict situation.
CNN added that mediators are pressuring both sides to reach an agreement, noting that “the coming days are considered critical for diplomatic efforts.”
Sources also indicated that Washington and Tehran’s positions are not as far apart as they may appear, although no second round of direct talks has yet taken place in Pakistan.
Iranian sources, meanwhile, stated that the proposal includes postponing discussions on the nuclear file until after the end of the conflict and resolving maritime disputes in the Persian Gulf. This is an approach rejected by Washington, which insists that nuclear issues must be addressed from the outset.
