SAEDNEWS: U.S. Media: Trump Backed Away From Kharg Island Seizure Plan Over Fears for American Troops’ Safety

American Media Report Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of Trump’s Regret Over Attack on Khark

According to the political news service Saed News, citing Fars News Agency, the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported on what it described as the hidden concerns of the Trump administration regarding its confrontation with Iran.

While the U.S. president publicly claimed victory over Iran and frequently used threatening language when speaking about a possible war—often suggesting the continuation of military pressure—the Wall Street Journal, citing informed U.S. officials, reported that what Trump actually wanted was to intimidate Iran and bring the conflict to an end.

According to the report, White House officials told the newspaper that they were “seeking further rounds of talks (with Iran) in Pakistan.” Based on this account, the White House expected that a sudden and unexpected breakthrough in negotiations with Iran could occur in the coming days.

The report also refers to Trump’s rhetoric about destroying Iran’s “six-thousand-year-old civilization,” stating—based on unnamed U.S. officials—that his messages and tweets about “ending Iran’s civilization” were off-the-cuff remarks and were not part of National Security Council planning.

In addition, informed officials from the Trump administration told The Wall Street Journal that Trump opposed a proposal to seize Iran’s Kharg Island, reportedly due to fears that American troops could become easy targets. These officials emphasized that Trump strongly opposed any military plan that could lead to increased casualties among U.S. forces.

These disclosures come despite Trump’s repeated public claims that he intended to deploy military forces to pressure Iran into opening the Strait of Hormuz and to take control of Kharg Island, a key hub in Iran’s oil infrastructure.

According to the report, Donald Trump also expected that dominating Iran would provide a “golden opportunity” to reshape and transform the global order.

Regarding the influence of meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, The Wall Street Journal cited informed sources saying that Netanyahu’s briefing in the White House situation room was a turning point that shifted Trump’s stance on potential military action against Iran.

The newspaper also noted Trump’s anger over the lack of cooperation from European countries in a possible war with Iran. According to U.S. officials cited in the report, Trump was strongly critical of Europe’s lack of support following an incident involving a plane crash and the deaths of pilots in Iran.
