NATO Member Urges China to Help Resolve Iran War Crisis

According to the political desk of Saed News, during Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s visit to Beijing, he called on China on Tuesday to take a leading role in resolving the Iran war.

Sánchez emphasized that Beijing is in a unique position to help end destabilizing conflicts in the Middle East and beyond.

In a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Sánchez stated, “I can hardly imagine partners beyond China who are capable of resolving this situation in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.”

He urged China to intensify its diplomatic efforts.

The Spanish prime minister stressed that China is the only global power capable of helping to reduce tensions in Iran and other crisis zones, including Ukraine.

During the meeting, Xi Jinping called for the preservation of multilateralism and warned against what he described as the world’s drift toward the “law of the jungle.”

Spain, a NATO member, has been one of the most vocal critics of U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran.

Sánchez’s government has recently banned U.S. military flights related to the Iran war from Spanish airspace and has restricted the use of joint U.S.-Spain bases for operations linked to the conflict.

This visit comes at a time when relations between Madrid and Washington have become strained due to Sánchez’s opposition to the Iran war.

Spain is seeking to deepen its political and trade ties with China, which Sánchez has described as a key diplomatic counterpart in today’s increasingly fragmented global landscape.
