SAEDNEWS: The 9th Congress of North Korea’s ruling party continued with a key decision: Kim Jong Un, backed by full consensus among the delegates, once again took the helm of the Workers’ Party, setting the course for the country’s major policies over the next five years.
According to the political news service of Saed News, North Korea’s official media (KCNA) reported that during the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party, Kim Jong Un was re-elected as General Secretary of the party with “firm determination and popular support.” This political event, held every five years, is North Korea’s highest decision-making assembly and sets the country’s economic, military, and social roadmap.
In his speech, the North Korean leader called this period a “historic milestone” and highlighted the country’s overcoming of the most challenging difficulties in recent years. Emphasizing that the party now faces urgent and vital tasks, he outlined three main priorities: strengthening the economic foundations, rapidly improving the living standards of the people, and implementing comprehensive reforms in social structures. This re-election comes as Kim Jong Un reiterates the necessity of realizing socialist ideals and enhancing national capabilities in the shortest possible time.
