SAEDNEWS: While images have been circulating for hours showing the presence of officers at several universities—bearing the logos of foreign media networks—police officials are telling a different story.

Did Student Protests Bring Special Police Units Into Universities?

According to the political desk of Saed News, citing Fars News Agency, investigations conducted over the past two days indicate that Special Units or Police Emergency Units were not present at any universities across the country. Authorities state that the circulating claims are false and lack credible sources. The announcement was made by the office of the spokesperson for Iran’s Law Enforcement Command, Brigadier General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi.

Videos and images allegedly showing the presence of Special Units at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad have also been shared on social media. However, follow-ups by Fars reporters indicate that these claims are not accurate.

Police officials say the published images are fabricated and were created using artificial intelligence.

It is worth noting that students at Sharif University of Technology, the University of Tehran, and Shahid Beheshti University held gatherings and sit-ins on Sunday to commemorate those killed during the unrest in the month of Dey. At the same time, tensions reportedly arose at some universities during the ceremonies, leading to injuries among students and damage to university property.
