SAEDNEWS: Donald Trump, the president of the United States, recently made a claim about the economic activities of his daughter Ivanka—a claim that was demonstrably false.

According to the Political Desk of Saed News, citing Fararu, former U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday praised the efforts of his daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump during a speech at the White House, crediting her with helping to create millions of jobs in the United States.

Trump claimed that Ivanka Trump had generated more than 15 million jobs for Americans. However, the Associated Press reports that over the entire course of Trump’s presidency, nearly half of that number of jobs was created in total, and Ivanka Trump played no direct role in the jobs that were added.

Trump pointed to a government initiative carried out under Ivanka’s leadership. As part of this initiative, the Trump administration secured a nonbinding pledge from companies to provide skills training to 14 million people. Critics note, however, that skills training does not necessarily translate into actual employment.

When Trump assumed the presidency, he promised to create more than 20 million jobs. Yet a USA Today report published in December found that during his time in office, Trump succeeded in creating only about 5.7 million jobs.
