SAEDNEWS: South Korea’s President Warns of ‘High Risk’ and Possible Accidental Clash with North Korea

Is North Korea on the Brink of Attacking South Korea? South Korea’s President Issues Warning

According to Saed News’ political service, citing AFP, South Korean President said on Monday: “Unfortunately, inter-Korean relations have become extremely hostile and confrontational. There is not even the slightest level of trust. North Korea is making very harsh statements and taking aggressive actions.”

He added: “We have reached a point where we do not know when an accidental clash might occur. All lines of communication have been cut. They avoid any contact or dialogue. The situation is extremely dangerous.”

Last week, South Korea proposed that Seoul and Pyongyang engage in talks to establish clear boundaries along the Demilitarized Zone to prevent armed conflicts between the two sides. So far, North Korea has not responded to this proposal.

Since the beginning of 2025, North Korean soldiers have crossed the border more than ten times, some incidents prompting warning shots from South Korean forces.

The South Korean president emphasized that achieving peace with North Korea is a long-term effort, and once definitive peace is established, joint military exercises between South Korea and the U.S. will be halted.

Pyongyang has consistently condemned joint South Korea-U.S. exercises, viewing them as rehearsals for an attack on North Korea.

Approximately 28,500 U.S. troops and numerous U.S. weapons systems are currently stationed in South Korea.
