US Judge Extends Ruling Protecting White House Press Access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico

According to Saednews, US District Judge Timothy Kelly has granted a preliminary injunction in favor of the news organizations, Anadolu Agency reported.

Under Kelly’s order, the administration is prohibited from enforcing its September 18, 2026 decision to revoke White House “hard pass” press credentials held by employees of CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO.

The ruling preserves the existing arrangements established by the court’s temporary restraining order issued on September 24, 2026.

On September 18, President Donald Trump announced that journalists from CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO would be barred from the White House, accusing the outlets of publishing “fake news” and producing critical coverage of his administration.

Three days later, the three media organizations filed a lawsuit, arguing that the restrictions violated the First and Fifth Amendments to the US Constitution, which protect press freedom and due process rights, among other constitutional guarantees.

Judge Kelly subsequently issued a temporary restraining order directing the administration to restore the journalists’ White House press credentials.
