SAEDNEWS: At least four people were killed on Saturday after Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, as a dangerous Category 2 storm, before weakening into a post-tropical cyclone, according to local authorities.
According to Saednews, Officials said the victims were two people who died after trees fell in Florida and Alabama, Xinhua reported.
According to data from utility tracker PowerOutage.us, nearly 670,000 customers across Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi remained without electricity as of midday Saturday.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) forecast that Isaias would continue to weaken as it moved inland over the weekend. However, hazardous conditions were expected to persist, including storm surges, flash flooding, damaging winds, and the risk of tornadoes across parts of the southeastern United States.
Recovery efforts have begun along the Gulf Coast as Isaias leaves damage across several states.
Businesses, roads, and airports are reopening in areas affected by the storm, but additional flooding could occur over the next few days, Florida officials said during a press conference on Saturday afternoon. Fallen trees and debris continue to contribute to widespread power outages across the region.
