SAEDNEWS: The chairman of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce has stated that both countries are stepping up efforts to expand cooperation in trade and economic affairs.
According to Saednews, Speaking on the sidelines of the 5th Abu Hanifa International Expo, which opened in Kabul on October 7, Mahmoud Siyadat, Chairman of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, highlighted a shift in the approach to economic cooperation between the two countries, announcing that the total value of contracts signed by Iran with Afghanistan at the exhibition had exceeded $400 million.
He emphasized that finalizing these agreements would create favorable conditions for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
Commenting on Iran’s participation in the 5th Abu Hanifa International Expo in Kabul, Siyadat described the event as highly significant for Iranian traders and entrepreneurs, noting that more than 50 qualified Iranian businesspeople participated in various sectors of the exhibition.
He pointed out that, unlike in the past, when economic exchanges were largely focused on exporting goods, Iranian traders and entrepreneurs are now also exploring opportunities for joint ventures, knowledge and technology transfer, and participation in Afghanistan’s domestic production.
Emphasizing the need for government support to strengthen economic ties with Afghanistan, Siyadat stated: “To make the most of existing capacities, support for investment in Afghanistan, expansion of technical and engineering service exports, activation of the Export Guarantee Fund, and provision of necessary incentives for exporters should be placed on the agenda.”
