Saed News: Donald Trump’s administration plans to automatically install the “White House” app on government employees’ work phones.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Engadget, reports indicate that at least one government agency will begin installing the official White House app on government devices in the coming days, and the rollout is expected to expand to all government-issued phones within the executive branch. The Trump administration launched the “White House App” two months ago, promising direct and unfiltered updates from the source.
When users open the app, they can access official press releases and content, along with selected news articles and statistics. The app also allows users to send messages to the President of the United States.
It is still unclear whether the app will include additional features for federal employees. However, according to Government Executive, the version installed on government work phones is the same as the one available to the public.
A White House spokesperson, Olivia Wells, said that government devices usually come with default apps that are important for employees’ daily operations.
Cybersecurity experts say the White House app may pose privacy risks. Reports after its initial launch in March suggested that it uses location tracking and raised concerns about sharing private data with third-party services.
Now that the app will be installed on government employees’ phones, it could present even greater security risks.
