An Increase In This Substance In The Body Can Shut Down Your Kidneys

According to SAEDNEWS, Alireza Esteghamati, an endocrinology and metabolism specialist, responded to a common misconception about the role of foods in increasing blood creatinine levels. In response to a question about “which foods increase creatinine,” he explained: in fact, foods do not increase creatinine.

He stated that creatinine is a substance naturally produced in the body and eliminated through the kidneys, and elevated levels usually indicate reduced kidney function.

Esteghamati emphasized that increased creatinine is due to weakened kidney activity, not the consumption of food or protein.

He added that contrary to common belief, following very low-protein diets or completely avoiding meat is not necessarily correct for people with high creatinine levels. These individuals can consume a reasonable amount of protein but should avoid excessive intake.

This endocrinology specialist stressed that elevated creatinine is a warning sign for evaluating kidney function, and people in such situations should consult a specialist doctor.
