Hopeful News About The Remake Of The Serial Killer Film American Psycho Has Been Released

According to SAEDNEWS, Helen Lee Kim, Head of International at Lionsgate, confirmed that the American Psycho remake, based on Bret Easton Ellis’s 1991 novel, is in development. She told Deadline:

“We hope to have a screenplay for it later this year.”

Christian Bale immortalized the role of Patrick Bateman in the 2000 film American Psycho, directed by Mary Harron. Jared Leto, Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, and Chloë Sevigny also played major roles in the film.

The story follows Bateman, a young and wealthy businessman who appears normal on the surface but secretly lives as a psychopathic serial killer targeting innocent people.

For fans, it will be interesting to see who takes the lead role in Guadagnino’s remake. When Bale was asked about possible candidates for the new film, he said:

“Anyone who wants to try it, let them try. I enjoyed working with Mary Harron years ago, I have wonderful memories from that time. It’s a bold choice for anyone who wants to take it on. I don’t know if they are remaking it or not, I don’t know anything else about it. But I wish them success, I like brave people.”

Scott Z. Burns will write the screenplay for the remake. However, Lionsgate has not yet officially announced the cast. As for the director, Guadagnino is known for films such as Call Me by Your Name, Challengers, and After the Hunt, among others.

No release date has yet been set for the American Psycho remake.
