SAEDNEWS: Air raid sirens were activated in southern Israel after missiles were reportedly launched from Iran toward the region, according to statements from Israel’s Home Front Command.

According to SAEDNEWS, The Israeli military said early warning systems were triggered after detecting missiles heading toward areas including the Negev desert and the Dead Sea region. Sirens were heard in several locations, including Beersheba and the city of Dimona.

The Israeli army stated that its air defense systems were attempting to intercept the incoming missiles.

Al Jazeera also reported that warning sirens sounded in Dimona, a city in southern Israel located near the country’s nuclear research facility. The Dimona nuclear complex lies approximately 10 kilometers south of the city.

In a related development, Iran’s National Nuclear Safety Center announced that a projectile had struck the perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear power plant earlier the same evening.

According to the center, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, March 17. Officials said the projectile landed within the facility’s site area but caused no financial, technical, or human damage, and none of the plant’s operational sections were affected.
