Cases Filed Against 10 People Over Rumors About Macron’s Wife

According to Saed News’ political service, in Paris, ten individuals will appear in court accused of harassing Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte Macron, through the spread of rumors on social media.

According to Agence France-Presse, the case traces back to one of the latest waves of online attacks, which for years have circulated baseless claims about the French First Lady’s gender both inside and outside France.

Origins of the Rumor
Over the past few years, a persistent rumor has claimed that Brigitte Macron was male at birth. Officials in Emmanuel Macron’s government have repeatedly emphasized that such statements are entirely unfounded.

According to Nour News and Agence France-Presse, the claim, initially propagated by far-right groups in France and the United States, has caused anger and distress to the presidential couple. Following the spread of this rumor, Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron filed a defamation and false publication lawsuit in the United States at the end of July 2025.
