SAEDNEWS: Reuters reported on Saturday that Syrian security forces were responsible for the deadly attack on U.S. troops in the country—an assault described as the “first U.S. military casualties” since Syrian rebels came to power.
According to the Politics Desk of the Saed News website, various media outlets reported that Syrian security forces working under the country’s rebel-led government carried out a deadly operation against U.S. troops.

This comes despite earlier statements by the Pentagon, which had attributed the attack on American forces to ISIS. U.S. troops have been stationed in Syria for nearly a decade under the pretext of combating ISIS.
In an official announcement, the Pentagon said that in today’s attack on U.S. forces in Syria, “two American service members and one American civilian interpreter” were killed, and three other service members were wounded. The operation took place near the city of Tadmur (Palmyra), where at least two Syrian security personnel were also killed.
The Interior Ministry of Syria’s rebel-led government confirmed that the attacker was a member of the security forces and stated that he held “extremist ideology.”
