SAEDNEWS: Justin Timberlake in a mugshot after a DWI arrest Monday, June 17
According to SAEDNEWS, Pop superstar Justin Timberlake has had his driving license suspended following a DWI charge. The legal proceedings were confirmed by his attorney’s office after a hearing that took place on Friday.
Timberlake, who is currently on a world tour, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated during the hearing. His license was suspended by Village of Sag Harbor Justice Carl Irace because Timberlake reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test after being pulled over on June 18.
The incident occurred in the Hamptons, New York, where Timberlake was stopped by police for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and struggling to maintain his lane. Court documents indicate that officers noted Timberlake had “bloodshot and glassy eyes” at the time of the stop.
Initially, the former NSYNC member claimed he had consumed just one martini while out with friends. During the virtual hearing, which took place while he was in Antwerp, Belgium, Timberlake’s legal team faced challenges, as the judge reprimanded his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., for comments made in a previous session where an effort was made to dismiss the charges.
Looking ahead, Timberlake's next court appearance is scheduled for August 9, although he will not be required to attend. There is also a potential hearing set for September 13, after the end of the European segment of his tour.
Burke's office emphasized that the suspension of Timberlake's license is a standard procedure in such cases, and they have opted not to issue a statement regarding the court’s decision.
