The Strangest Birth in History: This Woman Gave Birth to a Red Apple

According to Saed News, via Rokna, a newborn unlike any other in the world has set a new record as the tiniest baby ever. The baby girl weighed just 212 grams and measured 24 centimeters at birth, arriving under extremely delicate conditions.

Because her weight and the pale color of her skin resembled an apple, she was affectionately nicknamed "Red Apple."

You may have seen images of tiny, fragile newborns before and heard of babies with almost unbelievable birth weights. But this case surpasses all previous records. Born in a hospital in Singapore, this newborn required months of intensive care to reach a healthy, normal weight.

The maternity ward was preparing for another delivery when the mother, who had not yet reached her 25th week of pregnancy, was admitted due to preeclampsia—a serious complication that can endanger both mother and baby. As a result, she had to give birth four months earlier than expected.

Everything was prepared for delivery, and a few hours later, “Quick Yu Zhuang,” a 212-gram baby girl, was born. Her condition at birth was critical, but the medical team at Singapore National Hospital was determined to help her reach an ideal weight and health.

Born the size of an apple and measuring only 24 centimeters, the baby required multiple medical devices to survive. The care process, which ultimately made her the world’s smallest surviving newborn, continued for several months.

After 13 months of intensive care, Yu Zhuang reached a healthy weight of 6.3 kilograms and was finally ready to go home. Although her lungs still require some assistance for breathing, this is expected to improve gradually.

The previous record for the smallest newborn was 245 grams, a record now broken by Singapore’s Quick Yu Zhuang.
