Tang-e Lili is one of the most unique attractions in Dorud.
Across the corners of our country, there are amazing places that resemble scenes from movies or stories you have read or heard. Many people are not familiar with these places and may not even have heard their names. Lili is one of those places that will surely amaze you and leave you captivated when you see it. It is a dreamlike location with tall cliffs and a narrow gorge, where the “Marbareh” River plays a mesmerizing natural melody with its flow.
Lili is nestled within the sturdy rocks of the Zagros Mountains and has been shaped over many years by water and wind erosion. The erosion has created smooth and polished rock surfaces and walls with unusual shapes. The Marbareh River, flowing through it, has brought life to the area. The origin of the river’s name, “Marbareh,” dates back to the past; it is said that long ago, the river was home to many snakes, hence the name Marbareh. As it passes through Lili, Marbareh forms natural ponds and pools, which, with their cool water, provide the perfect spot for spending hot summer days and swimming. During the rainy season and high-water months, some of these pools can reach depths of up to two meters.
Tang-e Lili is also one of the picturesque spots in Dorud, located near the village of Chamanar in the central district of Dorud, in Heshmatabad Rural District, and just before reaching the village of Samiram. The gorge is approximately 20 kilometers from Dorud.
To visit this stunning location, you need to reach Chamanar Village. This village is situated 14 kilometers from Dorud, west of Lake Gahar and the Oshtorankuh Peak. Tang-e Lili lies between this village and the village of “Sireh” or “Lasoreh.” From Chamanar, it takes about 45 minutes on foot, and from Sireh, about one hour of walking to reach Lili.
If you are traveling from Khorramabad, you must first drive toward the two villages of “Sirem” and Chamanar. This route takes around two hours. However, if you are already in Dorud, it takes about 20 minutes of driving to reach Chamanar Village. Along the way, you can also enjoy the delightful scenery surrounding the road.
Li Li is the name given to this gorge by the locals. In this area, cherry trees grow, and the locals call the small-sized cherries “Li Li.” Additionally, because a bridge named “Sorpilu” is located near the gorge, it is also known by this name.
Boating: Boating and passing through the gorge with the rushing water flow is the main activity in Li Li. So, don’t forget to bring your inflatable boat.
Swimming and water bathing: Undoubtedly, the presence of water pools and the flow of the beautiful Marbareh River will tempt you for an enjoyable swim. The water in Li Li is cool and cold, and the reason for this is the tall cliffs that block sunlight and create shade, keeping the water cool.
Viewing the scenery of Li Li: If you are not a professional swimmer or haven’t brought a boat with you, we suggest you simply enjoy the beauty of Li Li; passing through the gorge requires a boat, and swimming can be dangerous due to the water flow and depth. After seeing the beautiful landscapes, enjoy the sound of birds and the beautiful music of the gorge’s nature.
It is important to know that inside Li Li Gorge, there is a cliff that requires basic knowledge of mountaineering to cross, and carrying mountaineering equipment is essential. Another important point is to be very careful while swimming in the pools, as there is a risk of drowning, especially when the water is deeper.
In every season, Li Li Gorge has its own beauty and captivating landscapes. During the green spring season, Li Li is full of water. In summer, when the weather is hot, it is the best place to bathe and swim in its cool water. Therefore, it is recommended to visit this area during these two seasons.
