Newsweek has claimed that two American citizens were arrested in Iran on suspicion of spying for Israel.

According to Asr-e Iran, quoting Tabnak, the magazine wrote in its new report that one of the detainees is a Jewish American of Iranian descent from Los Angeles, who was recently released on bail.

The other, who resides in New York, remains in custody.

The arrests took place following heightened security tensions and the recent 12-day confrontation between Iran and Israel.

Both individuals were in Iran at the time of their arrest and are suspected of cooperating with Israel.
