Iranian FM Praises Larijani’s Strategic Visits to Iraq and Lebanon

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in an interview on the “Flow” program, responded to a question regarding the recent trip of Ali Larijani, the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, to Iraq and Lebanon. He said:

“The trip to Iraq had been planned in advance, even before the 12-day war, and within that framework, Dr. Ahmadian was supposed to travel to Iraq. However, due to changes that occurred, Dr. Larijani, as the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, traveled to Iraq.”

According to Saed News citing ISNA, this senior Iranian diplomat stated that “Larijani’s trip to Iraq was successful.” Regarding Larijani’s trip to Lebanon, he added:

“This trip was also conducted at an important moment. In fact, it was timely and necessary. I believe that good discussions were held, and Dr. Larijani clearly presented our positions.”

Araghchi further explained that “the current Lebanese government has its own particular views, and during the consultations held, Iran’s positions were clearly and explicitly communicated.”

In response to a question noting that “during your tenure in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conflict between field operations and diplomacy seems to have been reduced and managed, whereas in the past we witnessed such disputes,” he said:

“There should not be a conflict between these two areas, and if there was any in the past, it was unnecessary.”

The senior Iranian diplomat continued:

“Field operations and diplomacy are complementary and move together. I have repeatedly stated that alongside these two pillars, there is a third pillar: the media. If the field and diplomacy succeed but the media cannot effectively play its role in this regard, we will face failure and problems.”

He emphasized that Iran maintains good communication and interaction with the armed forces.
