SAEDNEWS: Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva has condemned the violent crackdown on pro-Palestinian protests in the United States and some European countries.
According to SAEDNEWS, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva has strongly criticized the violent response to pro-Palestinian protests in the United States and several European nations.
During the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Ali Bahreini highlighted that the U.S. support for Israel, amidst its actions in Gaza, violates the Genocide Convention.
He raised alarm over the arrest of more than 3,000 pro-Palestinian demonstrators, including university professors, at over 60 educational institutions across the United States. Bahreini described this crackdown as a significant breach of freedom of speech and the right to assemble.
Additionally, he addressed the harsh police response to peaceful student protests in Newcastle and Oxford, calling these actions clear human rights violations.
Bahreini also mentioned reports of police violence against anti-Israeli protesters in Germany, along with subsequent legal repercussions.
He urged the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms to take necessary measures to address these human rights violations by Western governments.
