According to SAEDNEWS, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly condemned Israel on Saturday for the "heinous" killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-American activist. She was shot and killed by Israeli forces on Friday during a protest in the occupied West Bank.

At an event in Istanbul, Erdogan accused Israel of trying to carry out genocide in both the West Bank and Gaza. “Yesterday, they (Israel) heinously murdered our young child, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi. To date, they have killed over 40,000 innocent civilians, including 17,000 children,” he stated. “They attack barbarically and shed blood indiscriminately, whether it be children, women, youth, or the elderly."

Eygi was participating in a protest against settlement expansion in the town of Beita, near Nablus, when she was shot. According to Nablus governor Ghassan Daghlas, an autopsy confirmed she was killed by a bullet from an Israeli sniper, striking her in the head.

Erdogan asserted that standing against Israel's actions is both an Islamic duty and a national issue. He also highlighted that Türkiye's new diplomatic initiative with Egypt aims to benefit Gaza and Palestine.
