SAEDNEWS: The increasing use of mobile phones in everyday life has led many users to wonder whether these digital devices can have any impact on skin health and the aging process.
According to the Family Magazine service of the Saed News Agency, skin and beauty experts believe that various factors such as sunlight, air pollution, stress, and an unhealthy lifestyle play a role in premature skin aging. However, in recent years, attention has also been drawn to the possible impact of blue light emitted from mobile phone screens and other digital devices.
Some studies suggest that blue light, when exposure is prolonged, may lead to oxidative stress in skin cells—a process associated with reduced collagen levels and an increase in fine lines and wrinkles. Nevertheless, specialists emphasize that this effect is significantly weaker compared to direct exposure to sunlight.
In this regard, some dermatologists warn that the main issue is not the mobile phone itself, but rather improper usage habits. For example, prolonged use in dark environments, holding the screen too close to the face, and reduced physical activity and insufficient sleep can indirectly accelerate the skin’s aging process.
On the other hand, spending long periods in a bent posture while using mobile phones can, in addition to causing neck and spinal problems, reduce proper blood circulation in parts of the face and create a visibly tired appearance of the skin.
Experts recommend several simple measures to reduce potential effects, including:
Maintaining a proper distance from the screen
Reducing continuous screen time
Activating blue light filter mode on devices
Basic skin care such as using sunscreen, getting enough sleep, and drinking sufficient water
Despite concerns, experts emphasize that mobile phones alone are not a major cause of premature skin aging; rather, it is the combination of device use with an unhealthy lifestyle that can intensify negative effects.
