SAEDNEWS: 19-Year-Old Girl Gains Attention for Rare Condition That Resets Her Memory Every 24 Hours
According to the Society news service of Saed News, the world around us, with all its details, is constantly stored in our memory. Any disruption to it can cause serious problems—let alone a condition in which a person loses their memory every 24 hours.
Jesse Liddon, a 19-year-old girl from England, suffers from a condition known as “Susac syndrome.” This extremely rare disease causes patients to lose their memory every 24 hours and then relive the same day again without remembering the previous one.
Only about 250 people worldwide have been diagnosed with this condition. In fact, a film was also made in 1993 featuring a character with this disorder, portraying the struggles of those affected.
Jesse has been unable to remember the previous day for nearly two years. She even does not remember what she ate for dinner the night before.
According to her, it is very difficult for her to look at photographs of moments she has no memory of. The disease is caused by blockages in the very small blood vessels of the brain. In addition to memory loss, it can also lead to other problems such as vision and hearing impairment, and even paralysis.
