SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that Iran does not want war, but it will “never remain passive” in the face of aggression and will respond decisively to anyone who attacks the country.
According to Saednews, Speaking before leaving Tehran to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the meeting as strategically significant. He said the summit represents the presence of diverse and independent voices in a world where some international institutions are seeking to promote a single narrative.
Pezeshkian said the countries of the region share a civilisation and history spanning thousands of years and have long been connected through coexistence, cooperation and development. “Peace, security, economic activity and civilisation have emerged from this land, and we must work to continue this process in today’s world,” he said.
He stressed that instability and unrest in the region would benefit no country and could create challenges for everyone. “We must join hands and work together to strengthen security, the economy and development across the region,” he said.
Pezeshkian added that the participation of most regional leaders, along with bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of the summit, could contribute to regional security and advance economic and political cooperation, potentially producing positive outcomes for all participating countries.
