According to Saednews, Mikado is a popular and beloved Persian sweet made with thin wafer sheets and a rich, nutty filling. It is simple to prepare at home and makes a delicious treat for gatherings and special occasions.
1 cup vegetable oil
1 drop banana or pineapple essence
100 g chocolate bar
Ground pistachios, as needed, for decoration
1 cup all-purpose flour
30 g butter
1 cup powdered sugar
½ cup ground walnuts
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 wafer sheets
½ teaspoon cocoa powder
Place the flour in a suitable saucepan and toast it over medium heat for about 5 minutes. The flour should not change color significantly; the purpose is simply to remove its raw smell.
Add the vegetable oil and mix thoroughly until the flour and oil are well combined. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, ground walnuts, cocoa powder, and butter. Stir well until everything is evenly incorporated.
Add one drop of banana or pineapple essence to the mixture. Place one wafer sheet on a flat surface and spread about one-third of the filling evenly over it.
Place the second wafer sheet on top of the filling. Spread another one-third of the mixture over the second sheet. Continue layering until all the wafer sheets and filling have been used. The top layer should be a plain wafer sheet without filling.

Once the layers are assembled, place the Mikado in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so that it firms up.
Remove it from the refrigerator. Place the chocolate and one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a suitable bowl.
Melt the chocolate mixture over low heat, stirring until smooth. Spread it over the top wafer layer, then cut the Mikado into your preferred shapes and sizes.
Once the Mikado has been cut, decorate it with ground pistachios, shredded coconut, or any other topping you prefer. Arrange the pieces on a serving plate and enjoy this traditional Persian sweet at gatherings, celebrations, or religious occasions.
