SAEDNEWS: Genetic and Scientific Tests Confirm the Coffin’s Mummy is Akhenaten, Son of Amenhotep III and Father of Tutankhamun
According to the Saed News analytical website, citing Delgarm, this tomb was built in the 14th century BCE. For a long time, it was speculated that the body discovered in this tomb belonged to the famous Pharaoh Akhenaten.
However, genetic testing results and other scientific analyses have confirmed that the individual buried there was both the son of Amenhotep III and the father of Tutankhamun—namely Akhenaten.
Akhenaten is known for abandoning Egypt’s traditional religion and introducing Atenism, a form of worship centered on the sun disk deity “Aten.” Because of this religious reform, later rulers referred to Akhenaten in archival records as an “enemy” or “that criminal.”
The tomb is relatively small, measuring 27.61 meters in length, and is a single-chamber burial without decoration. It appears that the tomb was unfinished and later suffered significant damage due to moisture.
The mummy was poorly preserved, but its linen wrappings appear to have remained intact.
