SAEDNEWS: In the early Qajar period, women wore short-sleeved, collarless shirts decorated with gold and pearl buttons, along with loose trousers and a short garment called “arakhalagh.” After Naser al-Din Shah’s trip to Europe, he required his wives to wear chachur (long trousers) and a short skirt called “shaliteh.”
According to the Saed News social affairs service, the Qajar dynasty refers to an Iranian ruling family that governed Iran for about 130 years, from around 1175 to 1304. The founder of this dynasty was Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar. The Qajar lineage originated from one of the Turkmen tribes of Iran known as the Qajar tribe, which migrated to Iran from Central Asia following the Mongol invasions. They initially settled around Armenia.
The Qajar tribe was one of the seven main Qizilbash tribes that supported Shah Ismail I in establishing the Safavid dynasty through their military strength. Due to the significant assistance they provided to the Safavid court, they gained increasing power. Shah Abbas the Great later settled a group of them in Astarabad (modern-day Gorgan).
