SAEDNEWS: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has foiled a terrorist plot targeting security forces in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province.
According to Saednews, The Public Relations Office of the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Headquarters announced on Monday that security forces had intercepted a suspected terrorist cell during an ambush, following prior identification and intelligence surveillance, before the group could carry out its planned attack.
According to the statement, the cell intended to target security force bases deployed in the region to counter the invading enemy. The group had also planned to block the road linking Zarabad and Konarak counties.
During the operation, one suspected terrorist was killed and several others were arrested. The remaining members, who fled the scene, are currently being pursued by security forces.
