According to Saednews, Iranian Brigadier General Alireza Elhami said on Monday that domestically developed air defense systems offer several important advantages over foreign-made equipment.

He described Iran’s ability to independently upgrade and modernize its systems as one of the main benefits. According to Elhami, the nature of threats is constantly evolving, requiring air defense capabilities to be regularly adapted to new forms of warfare and tactics.

He explained that systems whose hardware and software are fully controlled by Iran can be modified “much faster and more easily” than foreign equipment, which may require assistance or authorization from other countries for upgrades.

Elhami praised the capabilities of the Army’s Air Defense Force, noting that Iran has increasingly come to depend on its own technological resources. He said the country is expanding both the volume of equipment it manufactures and the range of roles and operational tactics for which those systems can be used.

He also highlighted the performance of Iran’s indigenous air defense equipment during what he described as the recent 40-day US-Israeli war against Iran. “The equipment produced during this battle passed a successful test and is now being rapidly replicated,” he said.

According to the commander, domestically produced air defense systems are now being deployed throughout the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
