Iran War Dispute: Baghaei Says Canada Has Become a U.S. “Reserve Team”

According to SaedNews: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has criticized Canada’s conduct toward the United States, saying Ottawa has responded to Washington’s pressure with little more than compliance.

Baghaei said the U.S. calls Canada its “51st state,” imposes tariffs on Canadian goods and even threatens the country with penalties over environmental issues. Despite that pressure, he said, Canada’s response has been obedience.

He added that Ottawa is participating in the U.S. “illegal war” against Iran in an effort to win Washington’s approval.

Baghaei argued that Canada’s position shows it is no longer simply playing alongside the United States. Instead, he said, Ottawa has been reduced to the role of a “reserve team” in Washington’s league.
