SAEDNEWS: While the Trump administration has stirred controversy by claiming it seeks to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, revelations by a former U.S. congressman indicate that Washington itself has considered using an atomic bomb.
According to the political desk of Saed News, citing Jordanian news outlet Roya, new allegations have highlighted what critics describe as a striking contradiction in U.S. foreign policy.
While the administration of Donald Trump has repeatedly justified threats and sanctions by claiming they are necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, former U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has alleged that White House officials themselves discussed the possibility of directly using nuclear weapons against Iran.
Greene described the alleged consideration of such an action as “pure evil” and called for an end to what she characterized as the recklessness of American war advocates.
Referring to the dark chapters of U.S. history and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan in 1945, the former congresswoman said that available information supports the existence of these dangerous discussions.
She also challenged Trump’s claims, arguing that U.S. intelligence assessments have repeatedly indicated that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful. According to her, Washington has used the nuclear issue as a pretext for pursuing what she described as illegitimate foreign interventions.
