SAEDNEWS: The New York Times Reports Possible Resumption of Iran–US Conflict Within Days

The New York Times Reports Possible Resumption of War in the Coming Days

According to Iran’s SaedNews Agency political service, Asr-e Iran reported that the New York Times claimed in its Saturday edition that Donald Trump has returned from his visit to Beijing while senior advisers and Pentagon officials are finalizing plans for renewed strikes on Iran in the event that peace negotiations between the two countries collapse.

The newspaper wrote that, following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump now faces critical decisions regarding Iran. U.S. and Israeli officials are reportedly preparing for the possible resumption of airstrikes as early as next week if negotiations between Washington and Tehran fail.

Trump’s advisers have prepared several military options, including heavier strikes on Iranian military and infrastructure targets, ground operations aimed at accessing Tehran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles at facilities in Isfahan, and an operation to seize Kharg Island, one of Iran’s main oil export hubs.

Several hundred U.S. special operations forces were reportedly deployed to the region in March for a potential ground mission targeting Iran’s underground nuclear facilities. Meanwhile, more than 50,000 U.S. troops, two aircraft carrier strike groups, naval destroyers, and dozens of fighter aircraft remain deployed across the region.

Additional reinforcements, including Marines and elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, could support any future ground operation inside Iran.

On Monday, Trump told reporters at the White House that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, reached after forty days of conflict, was not in a favorable condition. However, he emphasized that a deal with Tehran remained “very likely.”

He acknowledged that the ceasefire still holds despite tensions in the Persian Gulf, but described it as “incredibly weak and fragile.”

Speaking in the Oval Office, he said: “In my view, the ceasefire is in a coma.”

Tehran has warned that it will respond with the strongest possible measures to any potential aggression by Washington and Israel.
