SAEDNEWS: Every year, men and women of a remote tribe in Niger hold a unique and unusual ceremony according to their traditional customs.
According to Saed News, many of the world’s unusual customs originate from remote tribes that live according to ancient traditions and resist changes in their lifestyles and beliefs. One such tradition comes from the Wodaabe tribe in Niger, where, according to custom, women change their husbands once a year.
During a week-long ceremony, the men of the tribe spend hours preparing themselves to attract women and win a new spouse. They use materials such as clay, bones, and acid for decoration. The Wodaabe men believe that these adornments give them magical powers.

The men line up, and the women, without looking at them directly, choose a new husband. The event is known as “woman-stealing,” because the man who wins a woman’s heart is, in effect, “stealing” her from her previous husband.
