SAENDEWS: Two Oil Tank Batteries Catch Fire in Texas Amid Unexplained Energy Industry Incidents
According to Saednews, The Abilene Fire Department reported receiving a mutual-aid request at 9:04 a.m. after two oil storage tank batteries near Mile Marker 266 on Interstate 20 were engulfed in flames.
Several volunteer fire departments assisted in the emergency response. Abilene dispatched Engine 5, Brush 5, Ladder 5, and Hazmat 5 units to the scene, with a battalion chief taking command of the operation.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and an investigation is currently underway.
Initial estimates suggest the incident caused approximately $1 million in damage. However, the total losses could increase once a comprehensive assessment has been completed.
Authorities have not yet confirmed ownership of the storage tanks, although they are believed to be connected to one of the oil fields in the surrounding area.
