SAEDNEWS: Kandovan, also known as "Kandjan," is one of Iran’s must-see destinations and one of the three famous rock villages in the world. Located near Tabriz and the city of Osku, it is one of the most popular attractions in East Azerbaijan. Unlike Kandovan, the other two rock villages—in Turkey and the United States—are completely uninhabited.
According to Saed News Tourism Service, Kandovan Village is one of the three rock villages in the world. The cone-shaped stone houses of Kandovan, its several-thousand-year-old history, and its cool mountainous climate are among the reasons this village near Mount Sahand, a volcanic mountain, ranks among the top historic attractions in Tabriz.
Kandovan has a population of around 800 people. Like the rest of East Azerbaijan Province, the villagers are ethnically Azerbaijani Turks and speak the Azerbaijani Turkish language. Autumn and the cold season arrive here earlier than in other regions. From mid-September, the weather becomes colder, and autumn rains begin to fall. As winter approaches, enduring the cold and long frosts becomes increasingly challenging.
Considering climate and season, the best time to visit Kandovan Village in Tabriz is from mid-spring to late summer.
