SAEDNEWS: Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, former head of parliament’s National Security Commission, warns that while Iran was preoccupied with trivial domestic battles, Israel was quietly manufacturing drones within its territory—underscoring dangerous strategic blind spots.
According to Saed News, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, former chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, delivered a scathing critique of domestic priorities during an Ilna interview on Wednesday. He asserted that “when everyone was busy fighting over dog‑walking regulations, Israel was building drones in our own backyard,” highlighting a striking lapse in national vigilance.
Falahatpisheh argued that true self‑defence requires both legal foundations and unity. He insisted there can be no genuine ceasefire between Iran and Israel without first documenting and condemning “the extensive violations” committed by Tel Aviv and Washington, including attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities—acts he described as “crimes against humanity” under the Rome Statute. He called for independent ICC proceedings against leaders responsible, naming former U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Turning to the recent pause in hostilities, Falahatpisheh cautioned that absent a formal legal basis and durable diplomatic framework, “the fire could reignite at any moment.” He praised Iranian restraint—“despite possessing more devastating tools than have yet been used”—but warned that breaking the fragile truce would unleash “the most catastrophic war in history.”
Emphasizing the Iranian people’s resilience, he lauded the “youth whose sacrifice equalized the battlefield,” and urged the government to align all policy with popular will rather than extremist distractions. Only by harnessing this “social capital” and shoring up legal defences, he concluded, can Iran safeguard its sovereignty and deter further covert encroachments.
