Upon his arrival, Nouri Ghezeljeh described Iran-Russia relations as strategic, noting that senior officials from both countries have consistently emphasized their importance.
“We are aiming not only to meet some of our needs through cooperation with Russia, but also to position Iran as a regional food hub,” he said.
Highlighting recent developments, the minister added, “Following Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Moscow in January 2025 and the signing of a comprehensive strategic agreement between Iran and Russia, the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad has actively worked to expand ties with the Russian side, particularly in agriculture and food sectors.”
During this period, he noted, Iran has signed valuable contracts with Russian companies and concluded key memorandums of understanding with Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture to facilitate trade in these areas.
“Russia represents a strong market for some of our agricultural products and also helps meet certain domestic needs, especially in grains and oil,” Nouri Ghezeljeh concluded.
