SAEDNEWS: Amid ongoing nuclear and regional developments, Iran will use the upcoming UNGA session in the US to hold talks with European countries, aiming to clarify its positions and address concerns.
New York, Monday: Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, criticized the United States for imposing unprecedented visa restrictions on Iranian delegations attending UN meetings in New York, calling the measures a blatant violation of Washington’s commitments as host country and a blow to its credibility.
Baghaei noted that while some visas have been issued, further details from colleagues in New York and Geneva are still awaited. “Once we receive the information, decisions will be made regarding the composition of the Iranian delegation and its participation,” he added.
The spokesperson emphasized that Iran will use the UN General Assembly and other international forums to clarify its positions and engage in dialogue on regional and international developments.
“During this trip, considering the sensitive situation surrounding nuclear issues and the reinstatement of previously annulled UN Security Council resolutions, Iran plans to hold talks with European and other countries,” Baghaei said.
On the controversial snapback mechanism, he stressed that Tehran cannot predict the intentions of opposing parties but will not give up its legitimate rights under external pressure. “Talks are ongoing, and we hope all sides realize that escalating tensions serves no one’s interest,” he concluded.
