Iranian Envoy Celebrates Persian Culture in Vienna with International Ambassadors

The ceremony was hosted by the Diplomatic Society and attended by the ambassadors of Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan – three Persian-speaking countries.

Every year, one or two themes are introduced as the main focus, and speakers elaborate on them. The two main themes at this year’s ceremony were the “Cyrus Cylinder of Human Rights” and the Iranian poet Hafez.

The program began with brief remarks by Gertrud Tauchhammer, President of the Diplomatic Society, followed by Iran’s Ambassador to Austria Asadollah Eshragh Jahromi.

Referring to the Cyrus Cylinder of Human Rights, Eshragh-Jahromi said this cylinder, which was written more than 500 BC, carries messages of human rights that remain valid to this day and is considered the foundation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Not only does this heritage have historical value, it is also a call to action, he added.

Later in the ceremony, musical ensembles from all three nations took the stage, showcasing their rich cultural heritage through live performances.

An exhibition of handicrafts and foods from all three countries was also held on the sidelines of the event.
