SAEDNEWS: Annoying Neighbors’ Behaviors, Signs of Uncivilized Neighbors, and Causes of Everyday Disturbances

Signs of an Uncivilized Neighbor: Read to Find Out Whether It’s You or Your Neighbor

According to SAEDNEWS, With the rapid growth of cities and the inevitable rise of apartment living, some individuals still approach life with a traditional, standalone-house mindset and fail to understand the principles of communal living. Ignoring these principles can create many problems for residents in a shared building. If you live in an apartment and want to avoid being one of these inconsiderate neighbors, pay attention to the following behaviors:

1. Loud TV and music: violating neighbors’ privacy
Unfortunately, some people take the phrase “my home is my castle” too literally in apartment life. However, when you live above or below others, any loud noise—whether from a TV or music—can disturb fellow residents and is not compatible with shared living etiquette.

2. Leaving shoes in the stairwell: a shared space for everyone
Placing shoes in stairwells disrupts the order and appearance of common areas and can even lead to disputes or security risks. These spaces belong to all residents and should not be used for storing personal belongings.

3. Delayed payment of monthly maintenance fees: ignoring shared costs
Monthly fees are used for lighting, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs in the building. Those who neglect timely payment disregard the rights of other residents and fail to meet shared responsibilities.

4. Improper waste disposal: causing pollution and disorder in common areas
Leaking garbage bags or leaving waste in hallways and staircases creates an unpleasant environment and pollution. To prevent this, always seal garbage bags properly and dispose of them at the designated time and place.

5. Interfering in others’ personal matters: a boundary in neighbor relations
Nosy behavior and interference in others’ private lives is inappropriate anywhere, especially in apartment living. People who are busy with their own lives usually have no time to intrude on others.

6. Using balconies as storage spaces: harming the building’s appearance
Turning balconies into storage areas for extra items reduces the visual appeal of the building. Balconies are intended for relaxation and outdoor use, and proper storage solutions should be used instead.

7. Creating noise during rest hours: disrespecting neighbors’ peace
Early mornings and late nights are rest times for residents. Unnecessary noise such as vacuuming, slamming doors, or loud conversations in hallways disturbs others’ peace and should be avoided.

8. Storing items in stairwells: blocking passage and ignoring others’ rights
Leaving personal belongings such as shoe racks or other items in shared stairwell spaces obstructs movement and reflects disregard for others’ rights, leading to collective dissatisfaction.
