SAEDNEWS: The Israeli occupied coastal city of Netanya suffered multiple transformer explosions followed by hours of widespread power cuts on Tuesday, regime-linked media reported, citing a high-voltage system malfunction that sparked fears of a possible missile attack among residents.
A major voltage surge triggered the first transformer blasts, Israeli media reported, as cited by the Hebrew desk of Tasnim News Agency.
Several transformers erupted initially, plunging large parts of the area into prolonged power outages, the report said.
The incident alarmed residents, many of whom turned to social media to describe scenes of confusion and panic.
One eyewitness wrote, “The explosions were so intense that everyone assumed a missile strike was underway. It’s truly terrifying; we are living like prehistoric nations! Why is the power company dodging questions about the reason?”
The power company has yet to issue a clear public explanation, the post added. Local utilities also have not immediately commented on the cause of the voltage fault.
In recent months, the Israeli regime has faced repeated scrutiny over grid stability, emergency response, and infrastructure resilience amid regional tensions.
