SAEDNEWS: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf congratulated the national Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad team on winning the 19th International Olympiad, saying the achievement demonstrates that Iranian youth can overcome sanctions and blockades.
According to Saednews, In a message published Sunday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf congratulated Iran’s national team on winning the championship and securing five gold medals at the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026).
Ghalibaf described the achievement as a valuable honor for Iran and a testament to the abilities of the country’s young people, who demonstrated their excellence in one of the world’s most challenging scientific competitions.
He noted that Iran’s success, achieved for the third consecutive year, was the result of years of hard work, training, study, and perseverance by the students and their coaches, who carried Iran’s flag to the highest levels of international scientific competition.
Ghalibaf stressed that Iranians should place greater trust in the knowledge, talent, and capabilities of the country’s youth.
He said that a nation that provides opportunities for its young people, values science, and replaces doubt with self-confidence can build its own future and withstand sanctions and blockades.
According to Ghalibaf, the five gold medals also convey a message from a generation capable of tackling complex challenges, advancing the boundaries of knowledge, and contributing to a stronger future for Iran.
The parliament speaker extended his sincere congratulations to the team members, their families, coaches, and everyone involved in the achievement, wishing the young champions continued progress and even greater success.
The 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026) was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from September 25 to October 5, 2026. Iran won five gold medals and finished first among participants from more than 66 countries, with over 320 students taking part.
